Ask Pia to do things for you

Learn how Pia, the assistant in the Help drawer, can look things up and prepare tasks for you, what she always asks before changing anything, the difference between Pia and Pia Pro, and what she won't do.

Updated October 22, 2026

Pia is the assistant behind the Help button in the dashboard top bar. She has always answered how-to questions. For some accounts she can now also do things in your company: look up an employee, tell you who’s absent today, prepare pay periods, or issue a certificate of employment.

This is rolling out gradually. If the Help drawer header shows a Pia or Pia Pro badge, it’s on for you. If there’s no badge, Pia still answers questions but can’t see or change your company’s data yet.

What Pia can do

Click Help, type what you want in the box, and press Send. You can ask in English, Filipino or Taglish. Examples:

  • “Who’s absent today?”
  • “Find Jona’s employee record.”
  • “Which leave requests are still pending?”
  • “What are the next paydays?”
  • “Generate pay periods for the next three months.”
  • “Generate a COE for Jona.”

Pia uses the same screens and rules you do. She only sees what your role can see, and she can’t do anything your role can’t. For example, HR can ask her to prepare a COE, but only an owner or admin can ask her to change company settings.

Pia always asks before changing anything

Questions are answered right away. Anything that changes data becomes a card in the drawer that lists each step and what it will change, with a Read, Write or High label on each step.

  • Click Confirm to run the steps, or Cancel to drop them. Nothing happens until you confirm.
  • For steps that are hard to undo, the card says “Type CONFIRM to continue”. Type CONFIRM in the box and then click Confirm.
  • A card expires after a few minutes (“Expires in…”). If it has expired, ask Pia again.
  • After it runs, each step shows a check or an error, with a link to the screen it changed (for example Open Payroll or Open Employees).

If a step is greyed out with a reason, your role or plan doesn’t allow it. When it’s a plan limit, the card shows Upgrade plan, which opens Billing.

Everything Pia does is recorded in the Audit log under your name, the same as if you had done it yourself.

Pia and Pia Pro

  • Pia is included on the free Startup plan, with a daily limit on how many tasks you can ask for.
  • Pia Pro comes with every paid plan. It uses a more capable model that handles longer, multi-step requests better, and has higher daily limits.

When you reach the day’s limit, the drawer says so and Pia goes back to answering how-to questions only until the next day.

What Pia won’t do

  • Reveal or change government IDs, bank accounts or other sensitive details. Use the employee’s profile for those.
  • Change billing or your subscription.
  • Download reports or payslips; she’ll point you to the screen instead.
  • Approve or pay a payroll run.
  • Act on an employee’s behalf. Employees use the employee portal, not Pia.
